Comedian Mario Rosenstock will be on the couch to chat with Ray and cast his uniquely satirical eye over recent events in the worlds of sport, politics and show business.

Rugby pundit and coach Conor O'Shea, along with his brother, Professor Donal O'Shea, will drop by to talk rugby, growing up together, and the ongoing Operation Transformation Million Pound national weight-loss challenge

Ahead of their highly-anticipated Olympia Theatre Dublin gig next week, Aslan band members Christy Dignam and Billy McGuinness will perform one of their classic hits and chat to Ray about life in one of the country's best-loved bands.

Following a hugely successful year for Irish film, award-winning director John Carney will also drop by to talk about his latest hit movie, Sing Street, and to introduce us to one of its star performers, Ferdia Walsh-Peelo.

The line-up is completed by US band Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, who will perform their hit single SOB.

The Ray D'Arcy Show, 9.50pm, Saturday, RTÉ One

I saw a Work In Progress version of Sing Street last Summer

We had to give feedback and rate the characters, plot, songs etc. After the screening the Director (John Carney) asked questions and we made suggestions about how the film could work better. He was going to make some alterations based on what we thought.

It was really enjoyable. The film was great (even then). I think it's a bit like The Commitments mixed with The Inbetweeners with some terrific music. Well worth a look - Five Stars!

Mario has the potential to really take the mick out of Ray, I hope he does.

Christy Dignam ..... drug addiction and cancer.....that's the misery porn for this week.

Jesus, Mario was on Tubbers for the Valentine's show 4 weeks ago.

Christy was on Tubbers not too long ago too.

Also I think Ray will continue his recent demeanour of being relaxed and will reach a level of barely-tolerable competency, which unfortunately is not why any of us tune in.

It seems that weight-loss show Operation Transformation's Million Pound Challenge is not quite up to speed with its target.

Two months into the challenge, Irish people have lost nearly 80,000 pounds collectively - the weight of one shipping container.

However, if we are to complete the Million Pound Challenge, we will need to log a weight loss of over 90,000lbs each month over the next 10 months.

Ah, that's awkward. Can you Troll that Challenge by saying you are putting on two pounds every week? :pac:

So in a way, you basically wrote the film. Credit where it's due. Looking forward to seeing you on the Late Late when the Oscar rolls in. :D

Jaysus this show is such crap.

Just listening to the guest list tonight. Is it just me or does it seem like RTE have made a very conscious decision to push the Saturday night show as the primary weekend talk show???

Don't Aslan usually do their St. Patrick's Day show at the Olmypia?

£150 back then would have made a lot of people twisted.

That could be because my mum got a Stannah stairlift instead of a treadmill by mistake from Argos :p

What are the odds that Conor may mention it, lol!

If there's one person who doesn't like Ray, supposedly is Ian & his friend doesn't really like him & is the main mickey take on his show is Mario, what do they say, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer ;)

I dunno, Hozier would have been by far the biggest guest across the two shows this weekend.

If Christy looked like Danny O'Donoghue and hadnt had the penchant for the illegal substances, history could have been much different. :(

It's very sad, cos I'd rate Aslan ahead of U2.

I miss 'edgy' Ray when he used to:

    - do a monologue about such things as the elbow dance.
    - brought on lookalikes of Hollywood stars and interviewed them at length.
    - competed with guests in bizarre challenges and then didn't care about the result.
    - used his famed 'edgy' humour to interview guests such as Pamela Anderson.

I simply do not recognise this relaxed Ray.

Surprised that Billy McGuinness was clapping out of time, you would think he would know the tempo by now.

In fairness, U2 taking time to do a song drew a lot of attention to Christy's fundraiser.

Bono Bollocks would say the opposite

"I've decided that I'm not gonna worry about it, I'm just gonna perform and if it happens it happens Ray".

While I agree with his approach, I fear it may affect wedding bookings all the same.

Ah good, the Tina Arena song.

    Oh.
