    Hi All

I would be interested in any opinions on the new Skoda fabia.
Looking to buy a car with good safety features, and which will accommodate 4 adults comfortably. It seems to tick all the boxes and not as expensive as the polo.

    Thanks in advance

Having had a 08 fabia sport, 3 cyl,1.2,timing chain,no issues whatsoever, I had ladders on top, boot full etc, etc, economical, nice dependable car,why not think of a yeti? Even better ID say,if I had the choice, ID buy a yeti for room etc,but the fabia is fab, look up briskoda ,Skoda forum, loads of expert advice, ref fabia etc, good luck

any new car you buy will be more or less as safe as the next. pretty much all cars in that segment will carry 4.
Fabia is a good enough car. they are a bit dull inside and the exterior is a bit wonky looking. they do feel quite solid though and the engine line-up is good enough. even the 1.0 feels bigger than it is.

i rented a fabia Ibiza and polo and of the 3 the only one I was happy to give back is the fabia. and I know they're all the same underneath but the fabia is constantly reminding you why it's that little bit cheaper.

Test drove the Fabia Style 1.2 last week and was a bit underwhelmed with it. Nothing particularly wrong with it but I wasn't happy with the feel of the gearbox and style both on the out and inside wasn't for me.

If I were you I would have a look at the Mazda 2. I have been in all cars in that segment (Jazz & Rio excluded) over the last number of months and that is by far my favourite.

I have a fabia 161. Personally I live it. Solidly built and simple. The touchscreen is easy to use and connects to most iPhone and android phones to access music and apps like google maps. For the price its a steal and up until recently was available at 0% interest making cheaper than a loan for half the price to buy a second hand car. I get 50 mpg easily from the 1.2 90 bhp engine which is faster and much quieter than than my old car. Boot is also big for its class. If polo is at 0% then go compare. Same engines as Skoda just different styling and some improved quality. Test drove a good few before hand and I went for the cheaper fabia on price basis. You should do same.

Having driven a new Fabia lately, they're a solid little car but for 4 people I'd rather going for a year old Leon/Golf or something similar. They'll fit but they've got a flat seat and not much room under the seats.

Depends how far and how often carrying 4 adults is required. Rear space is good for a compact but if your driving 100+km a day every day a bigger car would be nice. Of course so would an Aston martin!

How do you find the seats in yours Lantus? The one I rented had terrible flat seats and the headrests were very far back

I've never been in the back!

Front seats are nice. No complaints. I commute 100km a day.

I mean the front ones anyway :)

The Hyundai I20 is worth checking out. Quiet a big car nearly a spacious as cars in the class above it but cost less. Nice looking car too. The Kia Rio is nice too. Bought come with good warrentys s well.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

For a car in its class sears are nice IMO. Ambition model gets the better seat and you might even get the sports seat option on that car like the rapid and Octavia.

There are always differences between brands so if your used to a certain car another will always feel weird at first.

Even compared to the Ibiza or Polo which are very closely related to the Fabia, the seats are very flat, especially the backrest.

I drove a polo and fabia on the same day and I didn't notice myself but seats can be personal things so I don't doubt you. I know reviews have picked at less than desirable lumbar support.

I guess if its not comfy then try something else. I have driven a new I 30 over 500km on hire and it was nice. Can't say I noticed the seat being any different though!
