Probably a stupid question but how does assignment of car regs work. If the car is being VRT'd in Kerry does that mean it will have a Kerry reg? We live in Cork and the VRT place is booked out for the next week so the garage owner is getting it VRT'd in Kerry instead. He didn't say anything about the car reg that it might change though

It will be reg'd in the owners county. My nearest VRT centre is in Offaly but I'm from Westmeath. So my reg is WH.

It can be registered anywhere you can show a proof of address

When you VRT you need to bring proof of an Irish address with your name on it (bank statements, utility bills etc). This is what they base it on.

Im doing VRT this Sunday. I have V5 UK Reg Cert, i dont have anything filled in on it as all i did with the garage was fill in the section where it says that the vehicle is permanently exported and garage took this off V5 and posted it to DVLA. Anyone perceive any problems?

Yes that's what you need. You need to bring I think your PPS number, proof of ID and possibly a utility bill too I think also. Your home address will be where the car will be registered, eg Dublin, Cork, etc.

I didn't want to start a new thread but I need clear instructions as to what I need to do for VRTing my car. Bought in the North. Have read the website but still confused with all the different things. Can anyone explain please? :D
