Galibier Energie Elite shorts - Sizing

I need new bib shorts, and since a lot of Boardsies really like some of Galibier's other clothing products like the Mistral jacket, I'm thinking of getting the Energie Elite shorts.

    Does anyone else have them?
And what's the sizing for them like? Or even what's the fit like for all Galibier clothing? Standard fitting or 'one size up'.
Based on their sizing chart, I would be a large (I'm 187cm, 80kg, 32-34" waist).

    Thanks for any info!

I have their mistral jacket, leg warmers and gloves and find them all pretty tight fitting so I'd veer on the side of 'one size up'- YMMV!

I have base layers bibs and gloves and matched perfectly to the sizing chart. Don't worry thought they swap kit for sizing anomalies very quickly and easily. I don't recall any other retailer ever being as easy efficient and pleasurable to deal with

At 170 cm height, about 71kg with a 31/2cm waist and 80cm inside leg, M is bang on in the full legged bib version. Pad and Pad'less

This info is for size reasons, not about them being good etc.

I have a Merino base layer from them and sizing was correct as per the chart

Anyone else have a pair of these? Just wondering about the pad, is it fairly decent?

    Heya, OP here.

I've only done around 200 km (four spins) since I got the shorts, but I really like them.

The pad is quite substantial. The middle part (for the most delicate regions) is very thick, and the outer part is thinner.. If that makes sense. I was getting saddle sores quite frequently with my other bib shorts, but I've had no issues at all with these. Also I've gotten soaked a couple of times while out on a spin, and I haven't had any issues with chafting, friction etc.

Based on their size guide, I was a L. But I had to send them back and get XL. I was too tall for the L.

I'm thinking on getting a pair too, what height and weight are you? Their sizing chart is rubbish as it only shows waist and leg length (which is pretty irrelevant when it comes to shorts) and no mention of height which I would have thought is pretty crucial when it comes to bib shorts.

As I said, large was too 'short' for me, so I needed the XL.

    I'm 173cm, 72kg with 32 waist. Would that be a medium?

I'm 181cm, 74kg with 31/32 waist so guessing L should be fine for me. Thanks

Looking for a rain jacket and the Mistral is still unavailable. Has anyone any recommendations/experience of alternatives?

My budget is approx €100. Weekend cyclist with some sportives during the summer months.

    Thanks

Summer will be too warm for the Mistral, the Tourmalet is the job for summer riding.

On a different note, can anyone recall who delivers for Galibier? I've a pair of the Elite shorts en route, was expecting the post man to have them this morning but he only had a handful of bills when he arrived

I had a look back through my emails from when I got my shorts, but there is no mention of a courier company. So it could just be ye olde regular post.

I think it took 2-3 days for my shorts to arrive.

    Yeah I'd probably a medium.

My pair arrived via the postman this morning, just back from a short spin in them, very happy so far.

As for fit, I'm 185cm, 88kg, 34in waist and the large is a lovely snug fit on me.

The Tourmalet is also out of stock - will be at least three months before the XL is back in stock.

    Would welcome any other suggestions.

TBH no idea, you'll probably get more answers and info if you were to start a best summer rain cape/jacket thread.

Most of my other gear is DHB large, it's well worn now and maybe not quite as snug as the Galibier shorts, other wise I have a pair of pearl izumi L and our club shorts were Pissei, I am size 5 in those, both of them would be comparable to my firast impressions of the Galibier ones.

I decided to get the Team instead of the Elite, first time caution and all that. Went for the large just in case. Arrived today.
Probably the best fitting shorts I have and a great pad too!!!
