Gas Installer or Plumber? Radiators cold downstairs and leaking boiler

    Hi everyone

So, a few days ago I noticed that the radiators downstairs were barely heating, just getting warm at the top. The radiators upstairs are heating up as they should.

I have my heating on a timer, on Monday morning when I got up it hadn't come on and a light was flashing on the boiler above the temperatures.
I put it to reset and then turned it on again and it came on straight away.
When I got home from work, same thing - no heating (it would have been due to come on about half an hour before I came in) but I reset again and it was OK.

Tuesday, I got a friend to come round and 'bleed' the radiators, the heating hen came on then as per the timer yesterday, I didn't need to reset it. However the radiators downstairs were still cold, only a little bit warm at the top.

This morning, no heating again when I woke up.
When I went to reset the boiler, I noticed there was water underneath it.
Not a huge amount, but enough for me to notice. I don't recall it being there before this morning.

Anyway, I've turned the timer off and put the boiler off - I'm now at work - so, any ideas what could have happened (expensive issue or easily fixed?) and do I need to contact a plumber or a registered gas installer?

The water normally gets very hot from just the heating being on, however it is only lukewarm this week, not hot enough for a shower or bath.

    Thanks

You need a Gas or Heating engineer as all plumbers are not allowed to work on Boilers. Make sure He's registered.
