E as in economy. Used for low power requirements like a sprayer for example.

Ideal for light PTO jobs like fertiliser spreading, spraying, Tedding, raking etc. Its the one feature I wish my MF4300 had.

It's useful for most low hp jobs...

Low hp jobs are really a measure of the relationship between the tractor and machine. If your tractor can easily do a job at reduced revs and power, then 540e should reduce fuel consumption.

The boss used to agitate in 540e. The tractor was 185hp at the shaft so it was a low hp job for that tractor

Some tractors that arent electronic have a manual lever at the back to change from 540 to 1000 box. 540E l think is got by running in the 1000box@lower revs (according to mark on dash)

Normally 540e is a separate gear to 1000
I was told that a deutz agrotron has 540,540e,1000 and 1000e speeds
