Converting window to door - implications of increasing width

    Hi folks,

We'd like to convert a window (see attached image) to a door. I understand that if we keep to the existing width the existing lintel should allow the job to be done relatively easily. Within this width we'd be thinking double French doors with lots of glass.

However, ideally we'd like to replace the window with a wider sliding glass door. Is this possible? In terms of relative cost - would this be twice or three times the cost of the French door option? What is involved here apart from replacing the lintel with a wider one?

Would anyone be able to hazard a guess of costs for both options?

Obviously we would get an engineer to sign off on the design and implementation.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks for that - it's a single storey for that window. There is a second storey, but it's staggered.

    Thanks for the guidance
