What hydraulic oil would be ok in a mf 135....thinking of changing it and cleaning the filter... think it takes 6 gallons.

what oil would be affordable at the moment?

Universal 10w 40, front and back take the same oil in these old yokes, DON'T use hydraulic (it'll be too thin to offer any gearbox lubrication).

Bought by the 20L drum at any motor factors, my guess would be €50 to €60.
