    Hi,

Were looking at renting a 1 bed apartment new BowBridge House Kilmainham Dublin 8.

Were wondering does anyone know what the area is like, is it a safe area. Does it have good transport links to the city centre.

Its close to the IMMA and parks and St James Hospital is nearby.

    Any info appreciated.

    Kind Regards

Lived in Kilmainham and loved the area but it's not for everyone. Safety is subjective but I never had any issues and walked by Bow Bridge twice a day every day.

    Cons:
Traffic. Bow lane is tight, narrow and very busy in rush hour
Inner city. It's built up and can be grimy. The odd time we had to clear junkies off our doorstep.
Flood risk. For the last major floods in Dublin (when Dundrum SC flooded), Kilmainham was very badly hit. You'll be right next to a stream.
Parking. Do you have designated parking? Off street parking is a pain there.
Murrays bar on ground floor is a bit "local-ish".
Congestion when there's a concert on in IMMA.

    Pros:
Close to city centre. You could walk. You can use dublin bikes. Luas isn't that far away but lots of buses on Kilmainham road.
    Close to Hueston as well.
IMMA is lovely. You also have the old jail and war memorial gardens with Phoenix park a little further.
Royal Oak is a lovely pub. Ryans on Parkgate street is great too.
Nice supermarket in Hueston south quarter towards train station.

No opinion on the apartment complex itself but the area is great.
Overall, I recommend highly and even if you don't like that complex, the area is great.

    Hi Gaius C,

Thanks for the honest review, it feels a safe enough area, but anything can happen anywhere. I spoke with local garda station an they said its a quiet enough area with very few call outs etc.

Its good to hear from someone in that area too, what would rent be like for a 1 bed
in that area does anyone know?

    kind regards
