On this week’s Ray D’Arcy Show, novelist Jeffrey Archer will join Ray to talk about his fascinating life and career to date, and will lift the lid on just what it takes to sell over 270 million books.

The 75-year-old multi-millionaire is currently promoting his new book, Cometh the Hour, which is the penultimate book in the Clifton Chronicles. The five previous book in the series - Only Time Will Tell; The Sins of the Father; Best Kept Secret; Be Careful What You Wish For and Mightier than the Sword - all went to number one on the Sunday Times bestseller list. Archer will also discuss his time spent in prison from 2001 - 2003, following a conviction for perjury and perverting the course of justice.

Marking their return to Irish television screens with their new animated cartoon series, Ireland's favourite aliens Zig and Zag will catch up with their old pal Ray and tell him all about how life’s been treating them on Planet Zog over the past few years.

Following one of the most turbulent elections in recent history, Ray will hear from three first-time TD’s -Lisa Chambers, Josepha Madigan and Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire - about their hopes for the new Dáil term.

And broadcaster Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh, who has recently enrolled as a part time student in UCD, will share her thoughts on the future of the Irish language as Seachtain na Gaeilge kicks off.

Music on the night will come from country music sensation Derek Ryan who will also stop by for a chat.

The Ray D'Arcy Show, RTÉ One, Saturday 9.55pm.

Jaysus I'd love if Blannidge got stick in to D'Arcy over his treatment of the Nuacht staff. Especially if starts giving it all this crap about being supportive of the Irish language.

I'm disappointed. I was expecting Derek from Crystal Swing

The Journalist Michael Crick wrote a good biography of Jeffrey Archer in 1995

It revealed story after story of his lies and deceit.

And then in 2001 Archer was convicted of Perjury and sent to Prison, vindicating Crick's book.

He doesn't get to appear on UK TV and Radio much anymore so he hawks his wares around here instead.

I can't understand the Irish media obsession with Archer. If it's not Pat Kenny fawning over him, it's Sean O'Rourke or Ray D'Arcy.

I wish the lad well but I don't think he is worthy of an interview. Just sing us a tune.

Reminds me of the 2 deaf brothers who are in the pub.

"Ask the barman is there music"

"Hey, is there music here tonight"

    ""Yep...country and western"

    "What did he say?"

"He says there's 2 cuñts from wexford"

Afaik, she was in that TG4 Euro comedy, but she was in the headlines a lot back then when she was found out to bully Sheana Keane on that daily show they had along with yer wan Nolan that was in BigBrother.

I wonder what's she doing in UCD? taking people down to Galway to learn Irish, ah jees Liveline will be busy :P

Would like if Ray asked her about 'The Bullying' or her saying in the past that people who speak Irish are more irish.

I presume it will be a cushy interview about motherhood an juggling a career with kids
