Has anyone got any information on the young farmers scheme regarding the money you get and what it takes to qualify for it? I've asked a few already and it's a lot of different answers from all directions

If you're talking about the SFP topup for young farmers you're too late. Applications closed last May.

The dept need to start sending confirmation of online applications
This crap of not contacting them to confirm receipt is causing problems

Got it here with a joint herd number. Money in the bank before Christmas. No hassle at all. Can't understand the delay for everyone else.

Personally, I don't understand the point of closing the scheme at all. If the goal is to get young farmers taking over from older ones and reinvigorate the sector, why only give them a few months to do it? Furthermore, why make them do it at a time of year when farmers are generally very busy as it is?

It should be running every second year - for the full year.

I got YFS top up in 2015, I commenced farming in Jan 13 .. I had it in my head that I'd only get 3 years of top up 15/16/17 as 13/14 had lapsed but according to that literature in attached photo it's 4 years max if farming activity commenced in 13 .. Anyone else in similar situation ?

"If the goal is to get young farmers taking over from older ones and reinvigorate the sector, why only give them a few months to do it?" [/QUOTE]

Its a joke, I really wonder about the logic behind it too, I'm 27 and qualified for all of 7 weeks until the 24th of Feb which was the date I got my herd number five years ago. If they genuinely wanted to help young farmers they'd be helping those of us committed to the sector not penalizing us for committing early. If was 39 and just started farming I'd qualify fully.

By the time I got my TAMS II application together for tranche 2, between quotes, planning permission, etc I no longer qualified for Young Farmers TAMS II. Three quaters of the way through my Green Cert too. I thought if you qualified you'd qualify for a year at a time, not couple of weeks. A complete nonsensical joke.
