    I'm 187cm

I would need the bike to cycle approx 7k each way per day

I was hoping to spend around €250-€300 for bike, helmet, lights, lock

Second hand sites, sin e. If you want new it will be Halfords but they are terrible bikes at that range.

You'll only get a piece of crap for that money if you're including all the accessories in the budget and if you're buying new. Second hand is your only option I think, Have you looked at donedeal or adverts.ie? Loads of hybrids up there for sub 180 euro.

this Monday Lidl will sort you out for lights and helmets (both coming in under 30 quid) and get in early as this stuff sells out quickly.

Spend as much as you can on the bike.

2.5km is not much, Dublin bikes an option based on your commute?

The giant escape range of Hybrids are good sturdy bikes if you're looking for a hybrid, the other half had one of those, though you'd probably get one for half price on donedeal or somewhere. If you're only looking to cycling 5km a day, i'd be looking to halve your budget.

If your locking up in the college, buy second hand and spend the rest of your budget on locks and lights.

Locks because it's UCD (buy two and google proper locking technique for bicycles), lights because it's a bug bear of mine against most other students there.

At 2.5km, unless you are planning to do more, a second hand one from adverts will be more than suitable. You will be door to door in under 10minutes including locking the bike.

I am currently using a bike for commute but it is old bike and everyday there is a new problem. It is also so small for me.
So I thought was better to spend 500euro for a new bike (it will cost 250 with bike scheme), instead to spend 250 (the same price)for a second hand bike...
what do you think about it?

I'd spend 250 on a second hand bike. There are plenty to choose from and as you can only use the BTW scheme every 5 years, if you do get the cycling bug then you might be kicking yourself for not getting the most out of the scheme

250 on a second hand bike would seem to be better value considering your needs.
