Full websites on iPad eg betfair

On my iPad I want to open betfair.
I type in www.betfair.com but it keeps defaulting to the mobile version, but I want full version.

What's more, it keeps defaulting to the exchange site, with no visible link back to the sports book.

I have cleared history etc and it has made no difference

So frustrating. Is it an apple issue or a betfair issue. I was on chat with betfair but they told me it was in the settings on iPad but didn't know how to fix it. It was an ordeal even trying to find the link to open a chat with them on the mobile site!

Have had the same on other websites, but have been able to work them all out.

Essentially Betfair.com recognises your device (UserAgent = iPad) and base 1024 resolution as that of a 'Tablet' therefore delivers a custom css stylesheet tailed to that, rather than desktop/mobile-phone.

    Options:
User another browser that may confuse their site and deliver the default desktop e.g. OperaMobile etc.
Use their dedicated 'App' which is custom built anyway to you device - from iTunes (bigger buttons, faster and less content).
Use a UserAgent 'Faker', sometimes available on jailbroken devices.

When it comes to financials or bets of any quantity always best to use an old fashioned mouse and keyboard on a big screen on a private network especially if you have thick fingers in case you accidentally placed bet on Hilary to be the next US president when Trump may well take it.

Cheers. So there is no way around it :(

Agree with you about the think fingers. I'd say Trumps fingers are well think, they would need to be, the amount of pies he dips them into.

I generally use my mac book for this kind of carry on but she is sick and in the hospital at the moment :(

If you click the share icon one of the options at the bottom should be 'request desktop site'.

    What is the share icon

You can view the full site on it.

Open the A-Z menu and scroll to the bottom. Click "Full Site" then and you have it.

    yea I eventually found that
problem is, the link to full site is only on the exchange mobile site
it is not (or at least it is very well hidden) on the sportsbook mobile site

it also keeps defaulting back to the mobile site.... pain in the arse

Download Atomic web browser and you can select from several desktop browsers to emulate. It will then default to desktop sites all the time.

Here's the list under 'Identify browser as...' In Atomic:

Just went on the App Store and couldn't find that. Have you a link?

Hmmm, looks like Atomic is no longer on the App Store, must have been stored in iCloud because it appeared on my new iPhone. Puffin Browser has a setting to always request the desktop site so that might work instead.

Yeah as Zcott says try this. Ok not all websites let you get the desktop version but this seems to work, is this the sportsbook page you're looking for?
