I'm looking to upgrade from a small van to a medium size. Maybe something like a transit or vavario(or similar to vavario) but I'm getting conflicted advice. Some are saying transits are buckets and a lot of engine problems and fall apart with rust. Others are saying vavarios are fuel guzzlers and gear boxes tend to fall out after so many miles. If it's a 2004-5 model and it hasn't had a gearbox change by 80k miles, then don't go near it.

Now, I'm not the best clued up on vans to be honest. All I'm looking is to spend 1.5k£ on something tidy that isn't crazy on fuel and is reliable for work.

Will be changing plates over and was informed it's only 200€, is this correct?

Quite like the look of the swb transits and would be happy paying 1.5k for 2005 model but if they are buckets, think I'll just have to pass.

Hate trying to choose something I know nothing about :(

Transits are prone to rust. If reliability and good build quality is a priority I'd consider a hi ace. I know they are of an older design but they are excellent vans that last a very long time and give next to no issues.

Get a hi-ace , heavier on fuel and not as comfortable but reliable and if you didn't do massive milage anyway you'll be grand .. even then give it a good look over ,
