Upward vent flue for wall boiler?

Hi – I bought an one bed cottage about 10 years ago now on a row of similar houses where everyone has extended right out to the back wall/boundary (back when this was ok). The gas boiler the house came with is situated on the rear wall of the property with the vent for the boiler going into the yard of the property behind. The person now in the property behind has asked that I create an upward chimney flue so that the vented air goes up into the air rather than her backyard (fair enough).

I had a guy out from a boiler showroom who said that it was only possible to add a upward flue if the manufacturer had made one, and that it wasn’t possible to use a generic flue (if such a thing exists). Is that correct? Could another installer (not trying to sell me a whole new boiler) come up with a solution? Or are there strict rules that no one will break?

Ive had the current set-up certified by a REGI installer a few years ago

He's correct. If the current boiler manufacturer doesn't supply a vertical flue then you can't force another brand to fit it

Manufacturers guidelines on what's permissible on their appliances is the law/rule.
Deviations from that is not permissible.
More than likely they have info. on whats allowed.
    Hope that help's
