Hi. Can anyone tell me if stamp duty applies in the case of the transfer of property from parent to child (who is a long-term resident, along with the parent, of aforementioned property).

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% sure on the stamp duty, your solicitor may be able to advise.

You will be however be liable I think for inheritance tax on the value of the property.

Yes stamp duty of 1% would apply.

There may also be CAT implications depending on the value of the property.
