Hopefully someone here can advise me on this one:

I have an old Sky+ Box (Amstrad DRX280). It's on its way out. The HD is making noises and it skips during playback of recordings, freezes, goes all pixelated if you rewind etc. I'm rebuilding the planner every day at this stage so just want to get something that will work better.

We can't get Virgin TV or broadband where we live and Vodafone is not an option either. The real problem is that we have an old but good unsmart TV that doesn't have HDMI connections. I'm not interested in HD, 3D or any other bollox, I just want the kids to watch Ben and Holly and Paw Patrol before bed and the missus to have all the crap she records available so she'll stop moaning at me to fix it.

    Thanks

Sky offer a repair/replacement service for a bargain €100 what ever they have to do.

Go on adverts or donedeal and buy a 2nd hand box. Cheap as chips and if your card doesnt work in it use google to find out how to fix it.

Give the reps on the Sky Talk to forum a shout. If you have been with them for a while there's a decent chance that you would get an engineer visit for much less than the €100 they normally charge.
