    Hiya,

For sale there is a pair of 50mm carbon aero wheels built by the master Derek in wheelsmith.co.uk. They are based on gigantex 325gr satin black rims, novatec superlight hubs and sapim cx ray spokes. Total weight of the two wheels is 1220gr which is very light for 50mm, especially at that price. They are tubulars wheels and they have on them Veloflex Carbon tyres.

These were my racing wheels but I 've done so little racing on these, they are very lightly used. They have a campagnolo hub and it's very easy to change on shimano.

I paid around 1000 pounds for them few years back, I am looking about 600euro now. The tires alone cost 120euro.

The wheels are the ones in the photo, any inspection is more than welcomed.

    Hi,

Are these the newer U shape style, and what width is the rim? Also what yr were these built and will it take the 11sp shimano hub
    Thanks,

    Hiya,

They were built in 2012, but they 're in excellent condition and they really have low milage, if you see the brake track you 'll figure that yourself too. They are not the newer model and they are not wide either, i think they are either 19.3 or 20.1, can't remember exactly. I think it will take the 11sp shimano hub just fine, it's running the campag 11 speed one at the moment, I 've heard for a cassette that works for shimano and be put into a campag hub. Also don't forget about the weight, the likes of the zipp 404 are at least 500grams heavier.

One other thing, the tyres that are on were "aged" for a year and half before they were put on. The old wives tale says that they are more resistant to punctures by doing that.
    Hope that covers it!

Hi rkill, thanks a lot for the offer but I 'll have to pass. I am happy to discuss reasonable offers though if you can come up.

No worries, I guess we have different opinions on what they're worth, all the best

Do you happen to have the exact model number of the wheels?

    Thanks!

I don't know of a number for the rims. I was quoted "Gigantex black satin matte "air-bag" 325gr". The whole wheelset doesn't have a model, it was build from my specifications.

Thanks for the offer, find me in the middle at 500, and they are yours.

Before I offer any idea of the cost involved to change the free hub to 11 speed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,718 ✭✭✭AstraMonti

I think 30 to 40 euro, but actually you don't really need to do that. An 11speed campag cassette works fine with an 11s shimano according to the master.
