Can you build your own laptop?

    Hi,

I have been pondering over a laptop purchase. It ain't an essential purchase as yet so I'm just reading around at the minute.

I was wondering if there was anyway to specify exactly what you want in a laptop and either get someone to build it for you or to get the components delivered and build it myself?

I am aware of www.pcspecialist.co.uk, but they only let you customise certain parts. For example, I'm interested in their 14" Enigma VI physically/externally, but the internals of the Lafite are more appealing. Their other 14" laptop is a gaming machine running a quadcore i7 which is beyond what I need.

I would be interested in this as a project, but wondering if it could be done.

    Thanks.

    Nope.

Best is the likes of Clevo (Who PCSpec are using) where you pick a few bits. You can't cram many components into a nice body and make it modular, its not like building a tower where theres loads of free space.
