BMW DSC Fault

Wondering if I could pick your brains on something:

    I have a 2006 BMW 118d.

Over the past 2 weeks I've been getting an intermittent DSC warning light coming up on the dash.

I'll be driving along - beep - LCD Display cycles through a number of warning: Brakes/ABS, yellow runflat indicator, then DSC. Above the LCD display - warning lights displayed are a yellow handbrake and the DSC warning light.

If I stop the engine and restart the warning lights disappear but will come on again after a few miles of driving.

Had the codes read by a Dublin BMW Specialist - front left wheel sensor, front right sensor and steering angle sensor.

He's a bit stumped on it as he said it is unusual for all 3 faults to come on at once. He cleared the faults and the warning light came on again last night.

    Any thoughts?

On the older models it would be the ABS control module nearly sure it's the same on your model too.
It gives false impression of wheels and steering sensors because they all feed to ABS pump and computer gets its fault codes from ABS module.

    Thanks for that.

In that scenario should you expect the ABS warning light to appear on the dash? That's not illuminated currently, just the DSC light.

Bad battery, still on original battery?
Has been known that a bad battery can cause all sorts of random faults on BMW models of that era.

Battery should be good enough - starts first time without any hesitation. But I haven't checked the voltage. The warning won't appear for at least 10 or 15 minutes of driving, so I'd expect the battery to be charged or charging.

Nothing major - just a bit of town driving.

On the 5 Series 98 to 04 models yes the ABS DSC and Brake warnings all light up it can be intermittent, after 10 or 20 mins driving and when you turn off engine and restart it resets but will come back again.
when the codes are read the ABS module never reports itself as faulty it just reports the sensors connected to it. Some times it is a sensor but on e39 series it mostly the ABS module. It was supposed to be resolved in 2004 + by moving the ABS pump away from exhaust (Heat was thought to cause the problem with so many failing)

I'm not sure if you have the same bosch ABS module. you be best asking on one of the BMW forums as I'm sure they have encountered this before.
