What are people using to monitor oil tanks levels for heating oil? I've asked a few plumbers and they were reluctant to fit a watchman oil tank gauge to an existing tank.

    Why ?

Apollo or watchman gauges are very common & popular.
Simple to drill hole and fit if no hole provided by manufacturer.

    Simple.

I assume in case of contamination of the debris blocks the boiler.
