Thiamine supplements

Just wondering ... I'm in hospital and am on 3 100mg tablets of thiamine daily.

The nurses suggest that I take them together, however I heard before that they're absorbed better if you take them separately. So I'm taking them spread throughout the day. Other patients on the same dose are given them all together and take them all together.

Any thoughts? Am I just creating extra hassle for myself and the nurses by spreading them out, or is it better to do it that way?

(Not seeking medical advice - the staff really don't care whether I take them together or separately, so long as I take them!)

    Thanks.

More absorption does not always spell better therapeutic value. Check to see whether thiamine interacts with any of your other medications. If you are trying to take them so that they don't interfere with another medicine's absorption, or because other medications you are taking interfere with its absorption, it might be best to take them all at once at a certain time. The dosage you are given might assume a certain level of absorption. But if your medical staffers don't seem to care one way or another, it is unlikely to be an issue.
