Gery Adams embraces private healthcare

I can't believe how Gerry Adam's trip to the US, to avail of private medicine, has not gained more criticism. He wants to hit the “privileged" if elected, yet is quite happy to avail of their money. He is determined to get rid of private medicine, but is quite happy to use it himself. How many of the poorer people he supposedly represents, have mega rich friends who can support them and pay tens of thousands of Euro to avail of the incredibly expensive US private medical procedures?

Now what's that line from animal farm....... ah yes, all pigs are equal, but some pigs are more equal than others, so if Gerry and his crew are in power, we'll all get slops whilst they sit for a 5 course dinner.

Not a supporter of SF but this is old news from a couple of years ago. What annoyed me was his criticism of private health care, (yet he accepts it when required), and his criticism of wealth (yet he allows the wealthy to fund him).

he was also very disingenuous by repeating that the process was at the time not available "on this island", neglecting to say that it is certainly available in the UK, but he'd have to head to England for that. It's available on the NHS which he is entitled to as a UK resident.

Is that true? Do you know what the procedure involved?

Prostate procedure. It was widely reported at the time that the procedure is available in the UK, (but that wouldn't suit SF's PR lads).

Politics is all about the right PR and right image.

Enda shows up to the opening of every small jobs announcement, Noonan gets the red carpet out for Donald Trump and Adams has o go to the US instead of the UK for treatment to suit their agenda.

    Mod note:

Not really a political theory issue and somewhat thin on material. Is there an issue with a person criticing private healthcare when he used it himself? Maybe. Is it hypocritical? Maybe not if he is saying that his policy is to give all citizens through public health the same level of excellence he could only get privately.

Not sure there is much else to this topic, and there are many threads in the Elections subforum about SF more generally.
