    Howdy,

Ive bought an engine for a Ford Transit 2nd hand, its suppose to be from a 2011 Van with 48,000Km.

Is there any way verifying this?

Think im being told a few lies....

    thanks

Compare your own engine number with the engine number of the one you got. If it a lot less than it could be from an older van. Or ring a Ford Dealership and as them can they check the engine number for you.

48k km sounds low for a 2011 Transit van!

Am I right in thinking once an engine is separated from its odometer there is no way of verifying it's mileage ?

If it's also separated from its ECU then yes.

**Older cars didn't even store odometer readings on the ECU.

A 2011 with 48000klm? Doubtful, very doubtful unless it was scrapped in early 2012.

Engine number on a Ford is the same as the last 7 digits of the chassis, so should be able to work out what vehicle it came from if you have the engine number.

Just FYI my 2013 Ford F150 stores odometer readings in the gauge cluster, yours is probably the same.
