How Many Interviews Are Grads Getting?

Just looking for some feedback. I graduated last May with an IT related degree, since then I've only had two interviews related to the degree. Admittedly I'm held back by financial reasons as a starting salary in Dublin wouldn't be enough for me to survive. Just wondering about other IT grads experience, what's the frequency of degree related interviews? Or is it this bad for most IT grads?

I averaged around 1 a month for "proper" jobs after I finished UL in a non IT sector. Albeit most my interviews were in London!

Approx 60-70 IT jobs and more non-skilled, but like I said I'm caught by location, can't afford to commute long distance on a grads starting salary

Well most IT jobs are in Dublin tbh so perhaps you need to reconsider that?

Have you had anyone review your c.v. to see why you are not getting interviews? Are the jobs you are applying for in Dublin?

Did two got second one. Final year student in LIT. IT related degree. Half my class have jobs sorted for June already. Guys got jobs in Dublin paying 35k plus so money shouldn't be a reason to discount Dublin as a location for work

Applied for a couple in Dublin, no luck. Redesigned the CV lately think it may have got me the latest interview, still no luck. Can only keep trying!

Have to agree with this. There's literally 100's of grads out there that will chomp at the bit to take a graduate position, hell even people coming to live in Ireland with a secondary language. You're up against them. Really try and make it work. When I started in IT my salary was €25000 and was able to survive with a 40 minute commute and renting.

I would suggest having someone look over your cv too. Since your looking at IT roles your cv needs to formatted immaculately and not have anything silly on it like leaving cert results broken down for example.
