    Tramline GPS over Smartphone -
Anyone know if this is possible yet?
Surely there must be some Apps available now that will work over Smart Phones? Accuracy might not be there yet, but still.

    Googled and found this one.

Efarmer navi and farm sprayer apps. Both allow connection to external GPS antennas for better accuracy. Doubt they are as good as professional devices yet but might be worth a look.

I use agribus-NAVI for slurry spreading and gonna try it for the fertiliser later on in the year. I got it for free from the Google play store so you get what you pay for. It's good buy won't be as accurate as a proper system. Mine works OK off the phones GPS but I'm working off 4G signal at home.

Would it be accurate within 0.5m? Can you store the data from previous fields you've done?

Ah yeah it would be within 0.5m alright but I cant see anywhere to store fields. I just opened the app again there now and it won't pick up a signal now so maybe its not that great.

You can link your phone to a Bluetooth external GPS that cost about €80 that should be as accurate as the basic farm gps units. And then use the sprayer GPS app mentioned above

Hey, we are developers of eFarmer Navi "efarmer.mobi", we have connected the app with the cloud so it stores the data and you can upload the fields. I can say to @emaherx - try the app and see that it is much easier to use than any prof system. Although the internal smartphone GPS is not enough, you can connect the app to any external antennae via bluetooth to achieve the desired accuracy. Please let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to explain.

There is discussion in this forum about our app titled "Efarm pilot GPS" where you can find additional commentaries of your peers. Unfortunately cannot send you a link as the board says i am a new user.

Hi, I actually do intend on trying your app. I see you have a high accuracy antenna on offer but this puts your system into the same price range as some dedicated systems, do you have a list of any cheaper antennas that you have tested with, I don't require centimetre accuracy but would like better than the phones GPS.

Have seen gps receivers on amazon for £20 for the USB ones and around £35 for bluetooth receivers.

I have a GlobalSat BU-353 that I used for testing farmer GPS from http://www.farmergps.com/ on an x86 windows tablet last year, it also works with the farm sprayer app on my phone but I suspect it is not much more accurate than my phones internal GPS. I was wondering if there some thing between these and and the Novatel AG-Star that has been tested with the software already.

we found that the best low cost solution in the market is - Optimal system .de

My GPS dongle thing is a qstarz its 10hertz but 5 hertz is fine for accuracy and think phone couldn't keep up when switched to 10 hertz.

And where would ya put that on the tractor? Seem's like a small enough little yoke on ebay compared to the ones on a trimble or the likes
