I told two homeless people that Macky’s is giving out a free breakfast and they said no! But the people with money queued up like a pack of mongs?!

I went to get mine out where I live in Donaghmede last time and it was madness in there. There were secondary school kids missing school just to queue up for it :pac:

There is actually, but I'll sell you two for the price of one #bargain ;)

No coupon needed, but why bother, it'll be madness again and what for? To save a couple of euro, you'd be mad to bother really.

Now that should hopefully clear the way for me in phibsborough...

    Hi all,
I can see it says they are available up to 10.00 in the morning but if you have a 24hr McDonald's close by then at what time do they start selling them?

    Thanks,
    M

Why not get the free breakfast and give it to a homeless person, they might appreciate it. :)
    Food for thought

Calories give an indication of the size of what a portion will be, some may want to know if its worthwhile qeueing for. This is why I was hoping calorie declaration would be brought in for all restaurants, it gives you legitimate reason to complain if you are served a small portion. Not every body checking calories is hoping they will be low. Its little different to checking the weight on a pack of cereal you are buying online.

Sausage and egg mcmuffin is 430kcal, big mac is 490, hamburger is 250, double cheese burger is 440.

    ^^^^^^^

    Yawn

FFS it's McDonalds, we all know it's OK as part of a balanced diet and I think we all know it ain't gonna be "low fat", so just enjoy (or not) a free scoff.

Neither me not snubbleste said otherwise. Not sure if you even read my post and understood the point I was making. I am simply pointing out it is a better deal than I would have guessed. If it was 200kcal there would be plenty of pissed off posters on friday saying how miserably small it was.

I have no idea what snubbleste was getting at by posting them.

If someone posted "mulitpacks of mars bars are 2 euro in tesco" I expect people would similarly be interested in the amount of bars in the pack, and the grams.

Wouldn't mind a free McMuffin. Haven't had one in years!
But what kind of wait we talking here... 30 minutes or something?

It's not really worth it then.

Can't believe those photos of last years queues. Teenagers I get but 'regular ' people just turning up cause its free..... I just don't get it.
A bargains only a bargain if you need it.

too far for me and i'd probably have to buy a second one to fill me up
wouldnt be queueing 30+ mins for this either to be fair but each to their own but a no brainer if you're near one and you have a bit of time on your hand I guess

That is mad, he made a single simple post in that thread,

    Only 345cal or 430cal each

again I see no "winding up", just people winding themselves up and seemingly reading things that are not there!

There are several ways to logically think about the value of offers like this. If it's an additional 30min wait compared to normal then imagine on a normal the server said "that is €2 please, or you can wait standing up for another 30mins and get it free".

Same goes for people going up north and saving money, if you "save" €100 you might be pleased. But if a neighbour said "I will give you €100 to drive up north this saturday, your own car, time & petrol, you pay any tolls and car park fees, you have to go drive around 4-5 different shops and buy me all this stuff, and you are not allowed buy a single thing for yourself". You get the same €100 but it might not sound as wise an idea.

    .

you are right there but when he posted the calorific content in this years thread also I'm sure he was having a good giggle too

Those banging on about calorific content and that, I seriously doubt that people queueing up for a free breakfast, for hours, in McDonalds give a crap.

Of course they would, if it was a miserable 150 or 200kcal worth of food I expect they would be disappointed, and so would "give a crap".

Again there has not been a single person expressing concern that it is too calorific, or expressed concern about it being healthy but several seem to think there is for some reason. Are there hidden posts I am not seeing or something?

(Energy expended standing up in the queue with snotty schoolkids) > (Energy gained from eating the McMuffin)

    Everybody wins!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,762 ✭✭✭jive

Why do people care so much about this? Yes, it's McDonalds - don't make it the staple of your diet and you'll be alright. It's free, there'll be a demand because it's free and this in turn will result in queueing.

It's a bargain, if you don't like McDonald's nobody cares. Go watch that silly documentary Super size me if this is how you get your jollies.

Hardly any queue in either O'Connell St stores at the moment. Roll up Roll up.

What is funny is the fact people take to social media to say how happy they are to get one....

As its free its a stampede....Irish mentality, even in work, the odd day a free breakfast...people take everything...pastry, fry up, Coke, chocolate....

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

I think the bacon is nicest but wouldn't pay for them

I was passing the Douglas McDonald's this morning at 7.35 and the drive through was empty so I popped in and got one each for myself and my daughter. I wouldn't queue for it but it was okay.
