3 days after lasik HELP

    Hi guys,

I had lasik done 3 three days. My vision in my left eye is absolutely perfect, but my right eye is blurred it's difficult to read or focus on things.

I had my follow up appointment the next day and I was told my eye was inflamed and there is fluid underneath the flap on my right eye. She said it will probably resolve itself and I should notice a difference in the morning.

I've to take my anti inflammatory drops every 2 hours rather than 4 times a day.

I'm just wondering has this happened to anyone else and how did it go? I have to go back into them tomorrow to check if it's gone but I don't think it will be. I'm trying not to panic, any help would be appreciated :)

    Thanks

If they don't work after a day or two, there are others that can be prescribed. They'll be able to tell you at your visit how you're progressing.

Are your eye drops a corticosteroid (such as prednisolone or hydrocortisone)? My brother and I cannot use them; they cause us to have anxiety and panic attacks. This is a known, but not common, side effect. Sometimes it's as simple as that. If your eye drops are of that class and you think they are affecting your mood, please try to understand that it's not a "real" mood and you'll get it sorted ASAP. It may take a few days to restore your mood after discontinuing them. In the meantime, think of it as a "too much coffee" sort of thing. DO NOT STOP using them without your doctor's permission.

Yeah they're prednisone acetate 1% drops, I'm taking them every 2 hours now. Maybe that's what's making me worry more.

I'm more concerned about the fluid caught beneath the flap and just wondering if it's happened to anyone else and what they're experience was like?

Ask if this might be what is happening to you. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3809482/

Don't self-diagnose; even if it is hard to take the steroid drops, they may indeed be keeping sight-threatening inflammation under control.

You'll be OK. You're going to be seen in plenty of time to handle any complications from the surgery or the treatment. It sounds like you're getting help at the first possible moment, anyway, which is great.

Make sure that if they keep you on the steroid drops they have a tapering-off plan. If you're sensitive to them, you should not stop them cold after a week or more of use.

I was back today and 90% of the fluid is gone :) Just have to wait and see if the vision balances out now.. my mind is a lot more at ease now :)
