Heading over for my first time, planning on going to Thursday and Friday. I've bought tickets for thursday off the official site.

But friday is sold out for the gold cup. I see tickets at about double the price on viagogo, should I just go for these, or will they come down in price, be available on the day etc.

Also staying in Birmingham so will be getting the train up and back, Any tips for this as I heard it can be quite hectic.

Anytime I have been to Cheltenham there is a load of touts outside. They were selling them for basically cost price so I wouldnt pay the viagogo prices. I stayed in Bristol a few times and its no hassle. Trains every hour no bother. Im sure Birmingham is similiar

Are you looking for anywhere in particular? Think a friend of mine has a Best mate ticket spare if that's any good to you?

I always bought mine from the touts. They're usually below face value

Best mate is not great. You'll get club on the day from the touts

Train prices in the uk are not cheap

Sometimes if you price a ticket and place your destination beyond where your actually getting off (cheltenham), it works out cheaper. The chap or lassey selling you the ticket at the station will try to find the best price for you.

I get New Street to Cheltenham as £24.40 return after 0930 train

    Before 0930 £38.40 return

    That's before split ticketing

Have a mess around on this site.

Basically the same as skyscanner except for trains and buses etc..

I'm staying in Birmingham too and going over for the Gold Cup, had to grin and bare paying a pricey sum for the train! They know they'll get the fares so they won't go any cheaper I'd imagine.

Hire a car and it will only be around £25 for 2 days.

    What about:

    Fuel to and from course

    Parking at course

    Parking at hotel

Restriction of action eg if wishes to consume alcohol

All considerations to take into account :D

True. Not sure if I'm going to hire a car for the couple of days or just grab a taxi to/from Birmingham
