Radiator thermostat

I have a large double panel radiator in my living room situated behind a sofa. It has a TRV fitted which is not very effective as it is in a "dead air" area. I planned to fit a remote controlled TRV but the the short capillary tube would mean it would be fitted on the wall over the rad. I was thinking of fitting a motorised valve to the rad feed and controlling it by a roomstat which could be positioned anywhere. I think that a normally open motorised valve would be best for this.
Any comments on this idea and on the availability of a N O valve.
