...was looking at c2011 Exeos earlier in week but wife didn't like them so back to the drawing board.

Anyway dealer came back to me and said this has just come into him.

What do ye think? Anyone own one and have a good or bad experience? I don't see a huge number of them around which has me a little concerned.

Nothing wrong with them at all but they're a bit bland and have hard plastics.

Yeah, they're not as attractive as Mazda 6s, Passats and others in the bracket, but seem to be cheaper, I'd probably have to go back a couple of years to get those in that price range. Accords and BMW 3 series out of range realistically.

Nice car to drive with a fantastic engine but a bit cheap and plastic on the inside. Meant to be really reliable so worth a look.

The Lancer is a rival to the likes of the Jetta, Corolla, etc not Passat or Mazda 6. Like most Mitsubishi models these days, they are quite dated and more aimed at the merging Asian/South American markets than Europe. Only plus point is the engine which is supposed to be pretty decent, most sure it would be enough for me though to want one.

I'm getting a real "solid...but ugly" impression from this thread. Which is actually better than I expected, thought it might be the usual "gearbox/clutch/engine issues" that I see in other second hand cars and that I never got with my Saab over 10 years. Have a 1 year old kid now, so kinda thinking I have to focus on the price, mileage, warranty, value stuff now...rather than the flash.

i don't know which model exeo you were looking at but a garage near me has a cracking exeo estate 7 speed dsg 140bhp with tech pack, leather etc. 60-something miles on it.
    asking 13k.

Lancer is a nice looking car just a pity the inside is not the best but don,t let that put you of if you and your wife like the car thats all that matters. You could look at the VW Jetta and Mazda 3 saloon as well.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Took it for a drive, it's pretty peppy and can't fault the car...but there are elements inside that look a bit dated alright. Wife didn't like the colour -oriental red - so thought we'd leave it, but found another on Carzone for around the same price/mileage/year/ that's black, so will see if it's still protected by the warranty and if the dealer can pick it up we'll probably go for it.

was thinkin of investing in a lancer 1.8 di-d aswel.
Would any of ye know if replacement parts are pricey or would they be standard enough.

Heard they can be on the pricey side?

Dont want to end up potentially having to spend a fortune on repairs.
