Soot from oil burner

The oil burner itself is fine and serviced regularly but there is soot coming from the chimney outside, leaving deposits in garden furniture. I'm used to cleaning the house fire chimney myself but how do you clean the galvanised chimney from the boiler? Thanks.

There should not be soot coming from the chimney. The burner is not set up correctly.you need to get a proper service from a competent technician that has a flue gas analyser. It also running very inefficient and costing you more on fuel. The boiler is also producing high levels of carbon monoxide

Thanks. Just called the serviceman. He thinks the burner fan may be the problem. We'll find out when he calls.

    Thanks again.

is this your usual service man?
Ask him for a flue gas analysis printout because it's virtually impossible to fix the air settings without one
