    Hi all,

Is it possible to rent land short term, on a yearly basis, not on a long lease and keep your entitlements. If so how many months of the year can you rent for?

    Regards.

    Yes it is.

The way it works is you rent to the large dairy farmers next door. He tales a two cut of silage off the place and eats the after grass as well. It is on a wink and nod basis. You keep a few cattle to collect the DA if you are in that area and enter GLAS.

It is what the department is trying to stamp out with the longterm leasing.

Yes, this would still be the situation for allot of farmers.
The term must start before May 16 & ends in November generally

Its called feckin armchair farming, and if you have an inspection there will be some tricky questions to answer and the likely outcome will be a 100% penelty/ So dont. This year you can lease out entitlements, for a good % of their value.
