Advice on Sub along with Acoustimas Cubes

Hi Folks, An enquiry: I have a Sony AVR Str Dn840. I have a set of Acoustimass cubes (Old but trusty) as front speakers. The cubes have a passive sub in line. The amp has separate output for a sub (Two black RCA). Would I gain anything in terms of more bass from fitting a Powered sub as well? Thanks!
