Airtightness at Corner Window Post

We had a corner window fitted to a Keylite corner lentil/post without any airtight measures in our new build.

Now that this has dawned on us we are unsure of how to remedy the situation with minimum disruption.

There is a plastic trim mechanically fixed between the window frames and the corner post.

Option 1 is to remove this, which would be difficult but should we have it removed then we could tape from one window frame to the other - quite difficult, delaying build but also the most robust option.

Option 2 is to fill behind the trim without removing it (from the outside) with walltite insulation/airtight silicon - easier but perhaps not so long lasting.

Would option 2 using walltite/silicon last the life of the house?
Or should we bite the bullet and get the trim removed?

    Thanks for your help,

    Jiggins.

The only way I can see is Option 1, which will provide a continuous seal between the frames. Whats the scenario like at the head and cill though?

I wouldn't rely too heavily on airtight silicone. The corner window with steel post is a massive cold bridge anyway and it would be a shame to see it loosing air aswell...

    Thanks miller.
I wrapped the post in 10mm foil faced aerogel so thermal bridge is OK. Head and cill have walltite insulation affixed to the window frames and will be taped also - belt and braces there i think.
I'll try to go with option 1.
    Thanks miller
