HRV Pipes buried in Attic Insulation

    Hi all,
quick question re my HRV pipes.
Some of them run on top of the 225mm joists in an unheated attic space. They are 200mm diameter metal pipes wrapped in 25mm foil faced wool insulation.

I have two questions re the best way to bury them in the 500mm of attic insulation (Mineral Wool).

    1. Should I leave a void (225mm) under the pipe runs and roll the insulation OVER the top of the pipes and thus include them "inside" the insulated envelope?

    2. If I do the above, should I remove the Foil faced Insulation from the Pipes so as to better include them "Inside" the insulated envelope?

    Thanks for any feedback,

    Jiggins.

Thanks Mick but I'm not sure of your reply.
Did you mean to say No.1 as in do No.1?
Or are you saying "No" to number 1?
    Sorry for the confusion!

    Thanks Mick.
So just insulate under them as per usual and roll the second layer over them?
    Thanks.

Make sure to not compress the insulation while at the same time ensuring no gaps for air to circulate through the insulation.
