Mention of Century Radio on another thread prompted another thought...

Can you think of people currently involved with Irish radio on FM who went through Century Radio, i.e. the first national independent radio station (September 1989 to November 1991)?

We might as well start with its successor:

Today FM: Jim O'Neill and Declan Meehan - both now on Sundays. Declan's main job is with East Coast FM.

2FM: Aidan Leonard (also with RTE Gold)

Lyric FM: Marty Whelan (as well as RTE One)

RTE News: Richard Crowley and David Davin-Power

RTE Sports: Robbie Irwin (he was a presenter on Century)

Radio Nova: Greg Gaughren and Ernie Gallagher (fill-in presenter on Nova)

Q102: Scott Williams and Aidan Cooney (as well as TV3; weekend breakfast presenter for the first two months of Century)

    Sunshine 106.8: Joe Harrington

4FM: Owen Larkin - he is on weekends and his main job is with Belfast's Citybeat.

    Any more?

Karl Tsigdinos ( River of Soul ) has revived River Of Soul on RTE Gold ( Weds. 7 to 8PM ) & is also presenting Shakin' Street Saturdays 10 to 12 midnight on 103.2 Dublin City FM.

    Hi Declan,
You are correct - so many name changes confused me alas.

I really like Carol Coleman. She's been sidelined by RE for a while and it's nice to see her beginning to reemerge. She interviewed Dubya a good while back and laid into him with facts and make him look like a bumbling idiot (which presumably wasn't too hard). As the yanks aren't used to having any journalist with the temerity to interrupt the Prez and ask probing questions, she became persona non grata and I think she was replaced as Washington Correspondant a while afterwards as she was likely blackballed from then on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carole_Coleman

Con Murphy (last time I checked he was with Nova)
Darragh Maloney (RTE TV & Radio)
Dermot Magennis (Actor, previous Today FM voice over guy, Radio Advert v/o's)
Liam Quigley (v/o guy for lots of Radio stations)

Does Paddy Clancy do any radio these days ?

Some airchecks (including the launch) if anyone is interested http://www.aircheckdownloads.com/CenturyIreland.htm
