Front parking sensor problem?

    Hi,

Just got front and rear parking sensors fitted to our Mondeo today.

Am I right in saying that the front sensors shouldn't beep at all until they begin to come into contact with an object? There is a switch to turn them off but even if there is nothing in front they are beeping.

The beeping does get more intense the closer you get to an object and constant when you are very close.

It's just I feel they shouldn't beep at all when there is no object in front.

I can turn the front sensors off by the switch in the attached picture.

    Any thoughts?

Does the beep change when you get close to objects in the front? Really depends on the brand exactly how they work, did you get instructions with them?

It does. Are there some brands that beep straight asay when there is nothing in front though? The rear ones don't beep unless there is an object in range. Not surr what brand and no instructions.

Usually sensors will beep once when you turn them on to let you know they are on and working (my aftermarket rear sensors do this) but it shouldn't be continuously beeping with nothing in front of them.

Are they possibly angled too low (at the ground) or maybe there is some dirt or something setting them off.

What brand are they, I wonder is there some adjustment can be made?

Yeah, the rear ones beep once as you put the car into reverse and don't beep again until they are approaching an obstacle.

The front ones beep as soon as you turn on the car and you have to press the "P" button they fitted to turn them off. The beeping does intensify as you approach an obstacle alright but I didn't think they should be beeping at all if there is nothing in front.

Reckon they're wired incorrectly. The guy in the garage said they had a nightmare fitting them - wiring them through.

I doubt it's the first time they've done it though - main dealer. Will bring car back to see what they want they think.
