Hi, in middle of renovating a 1960s bungalow. Built using cavity block and 6' solid internal walls.

In middle of insulating external walls using 50mm insulated plasterboard.

Plan is to batton the walls and screw the boards to the battons. The house is being rewired and re plumbed so using the space behind the board to run pipes and wires.

Is this the best way? What about dpm? And vapour barrier? Do I need?

    Any advice appreciated.

Don't baton the walls. Just use steel mushroom fixings. Put the socket drops in oval wavin, and then scrape out a bit of insulation, doesn't have to be too deep, where the wavin is.

Is there a disadvantage of using battons? I was told having a air gap would be a advantage against damp.

Yes lots of disadvantages:- loose space, air gap / damp, batons could rot. Steel mushrooms are a great job, just lash them in.

OK think Ill go with that then. U seen few sites saying dot and dab with steel mushrooms? Or is the mushrooms alone enough?

Mushroom bolts would be enough 6-8 per board
