Air To Water Heat Pump Advice Needed

I have recently moved into a new house. It’s a new build with a BER A3. The heating system is an air to water heat pump, which heats the radiators. There is no under floor heating. The house is a 4 bed semi, approx. 140 sq metres. I’m basically looking for some guidance from people on here with similar systems, as this is all new technology to me and I don’t think I’m utilising it correctly.

I understand that it is not like a conventional gas/oil central heating, and that it will take much, much longer to bring the house up to 22 degrees from a cold start. I have heard that I should just leave it running 24 hours in order to get the heat pump running as economically as it can. I am not at home during the day though, I don’t get home from work until 5 o’clock. It just seems to me that if I left it running all day long it’s a lot of wasted energy and money?
Can anybody with similar working hours advise on what is a good starting point for me to set the timers on the system? Maybe I’m wrong, but it just seems to me that if I run it for 24 hours I’d be faced with a colossal energy bill at the end of the month?
