Anyone have any recent experience of Bellinter for a wedding?
We love the idea of having a house party feel for our wedding but just wanted to see if anyone has been there in the past year or so as all the threads on here are from a while ago!

We actually stayed there this weekend for a night. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. We ate in the bar and food was OK, bit bland. Room was expensive for what it was, they could do with an overhaul and are a bit outdated. Never been to a wedding there but just to give a recent guest experience.

We're getting married here next March.
One thing I have to say, is that the staff have been unbelievable so far. So friendly, and helpful. Very easy to deal with, and hugely accommodating.
It was between here, and another venue. We were really struggling to make a choice, and what swung it for us, was our dealings with the staff.

I'm sure some people might have some negative things to say, but I'm sure thats the same with everywhere. We're booked in now, so I'll just bury my head in the sand towards anything negative :)

We ended up booking for July this year!
Have been down a few times and the renovations are great and you're right, the staff are all amazing. Have our menu tasting next month so can't wait!

Hope you have a great day.
We're booked for 180. Might be a bit crowded, but should be fine.

The house itself is beautiful. Not overly amazed with the bridal suite, but it's the least of my worries.

Hoping to be able to swing a few small allowances. Would love to be allowed to bring in say 80 bottles of beer to be handed out at the reception, but doubt they'll be keen on that

We managed to get no corkage on beer we're bringing in for the toast drink but have gone with the package for the reception. Ya might as well ask!

I was at a wedding there last summer and really enjoyed it. One of the better weddings I've been to in Ireland so far. We were lucky with the weather during the afternoon so everyone sitting outside for the drinks reception was lovely. The style of the place isnt to everyones taste but personally I thought it was great.

My one negative (and I heard this from other guests too) is that the breakfast the next morning was very poor for a 4star venue. It would have been poor for a bog standard 3 star come to think of it. Very limited selection, bland, over cooked buffet, and there were nearly riots over toast. They had one toaster which could hold 4 slices at a time and was unbelievably slow. Peoples entire breakfasts were going cold waiting to get access to the toaster. Its annoying as it could so easily be so much better.

That is a pity re the breakfast.

I stayed there about four years ago and the breakfast back then (prior to change of ownership) was amazing... possibly the best breakfast menu I've seen and far superior to the Merrion Hotel (where we stayed the night of our wedding).

When we stayed over before, the breakfast was amazing but then again, it was mid week and there were very few people staying, it was made to order. Hopefully they'll improve on feeding to the masses!!

Yeah I'd like to think the breakfast was just unfortunate - because it was just so out of step with the rest of our experience. The food at the wedding itself was of a very high standard. Maybe we were unlucky or they had a staffing crisis in the kitchen or something. It wasnt the biggest wedding either (just under 90 ppl) so they should have been better able to cope.

The wars over the toast still get talked about 8 months later so if I've learned one thing, its that you hungover people really really need their toast!

I'd love to hear how your wedding went in July if you have the time to pen some words. We're getting married there in March, and would live to get some ideas, hear some feedback, and try to resolve any issues you may have had.

    Thanks

Out of interest, what's the approx per head cost?

Edit: Hope it went well OP!

Depends on time of year. Obviously, summer weddings are more expensive, but I have found that they are willing to negotiate.
We're paying around €90 per head for a March wedding. This is for one of the top level packages I believe
They have different levels that you can go for though, so depending on what you are looking for, the price will vary

Just a quick update. I had my wedding here last week, and it was absolutely perfect. The venue was fantastic, and staff were unbelievable.
If anyone is considering here, or has any questions, please feel free to ask (or PM me) and I will try to get back to you.
I can't recommend this place enough

    Happy to help.
We got married in Rathfeigh Church. It's about 10/15 minutes drive away. Beautiful church and grounds. A good few people stopped off in Swans bar in between for a pint.

As for decorating the room, we did it all ourselves.
We had around 160 guests, so had 12 rectangular tables, all of different sizes (made the seating plan very straight forward).

We rented candelabras from someone in Wicklow I think. We just placed one on each table, and had round flowers on each of them.
The top table was actually in the middle of the room, as we didnt want to be separate from everyone else.
We also rented fest lights to be hanging from the ceiling, and hung some christmas lights around the bar.

Your day will be vastly different from our own as we had all the doors open throughout the evening, so people were constantly moving between the room and outside.

Feel free to fire me a PM with any other questions. Happy to help, especially on a Friday stuck in work :)

Thank you so much. Sounds like you had a fabulous day. Was thinking of renting candelabras too. Must check out that church I was in touch with one already but I haven't seen it yet. Going down on Sunday to check them out.
