I'm thinking of buying a stove fan.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good fan for a large open plan room. I have a stand alone stove so the size of the fan will not be an isue.
I've been reading the reviews on amazon and they vary alot.
    Are they worth it?

I know a few people with them and apart from being a good conversation starter I really think they are a total waste of time.

Most of the heat you get from a stove is in the form of radiation. A fan has no effect on radiation. When you feel the heat from a stove its mostly radiated heat you are feeling.

In a mates house siting 5-6m back from a stove in the direct line of the fan I can't tell the difference in temperature if the fan is running or not.

If I could get one for the €20 they are worth then I'd get one but at the €150 I've seen some for recently I'd prefer to burn a few extra logs instead.

i bought a stove fan. Paid 50 for it.
It does blow the air outwards, but it hasnt improved the heat temperature in the cooler parts of the room.
    its a gimmick
