    Hi there.
I have a plan to travel to Bawnboy, Cavan on Tuesday 16/02.

Could somebody suggest me the most convenient means of transport to get there ?

As far as I know, there are buses to Cavan town centre then from Cavan town, get another bus to Bawnboy.

What will be the latest bus from Bawnboy to Cavan town since I will need to get back to Dublin on the same day. Will I be able to purchase all tickets in advanced?

Any suggestions will help. Thank you.

Bus Éireann Expressway route 30 and local route 109 operate between Dublin and Cavan.

Leydons Coaches operate from Cavan to Bawnboy. Their bus departs the front of Cavan Bus Stn at 11.42 reaching Bawnboy at 12.27.
The last bus from Bawnboy back to Cavan is at 14.30.

Assuming two hours is too short I would suggest in the evening travelling from Bawnboy at 16.57 to Enniskillen (arrive at tourist office which is across the road from the bus station at 17.28). Then catch the Bus Éireann Expressway at 18.05 straight back to Dublin.

    Leydons timetable

    Bus Éireann Expressway route 30

To keep ticket costs to a minimum I'd suggest the following itinerary and ticket arrangements:

Buy a Dublin to Enniskillen DAY return ticket (make sure to quote the word "day" return as it's cheaper than the monthly return). The fare is €26.50. This can be purchased from the ticket office in Busáras on the morning of travel. From the ticket vending machines it can be bought a few days ahead of travel or on the day of travel. Unfortunately cross-border tickets aren't available online.

Depart Dublin Busáras 09.30 (usually Gate 8) on Bus Éireann Expressway route 30
    Arrive Belturbet Diamond 11.42

Depart Belturbet Diamond (same stop & side of road outside the old post office) 12 noon on Leydons Coaches & buy a single to Bawnboy from the driver. I think the fare is about €6)
    Arrive Bawnboy 12.27

Depart Bawnboy at 16.57 (Leydons coaches; buying a single to Enniskillen. Fare around €7)
    Enniskillen arrive 17.28

Depart Enniskillen Bus Station 18.05 (Bus Éireann Expressway route 30)
    Arrive Dublin Busáras 20.50

    Cavan-Bawnboy-Eniskillen Leydons Coaches

    Bus Eireann Dublin-Cavan 109

    Dublin-Cavan-Eniskillen 30

Times of the Leydons service are the limiting factor.

    Outbound 09.30 Dublin-Cavan 11.20, 11.42 Cavan-Bawnboy 12.27

    Return 14.31 Bawnboy-Cavan 15.23, 16.00 Cavan-Dublin 18.05

That only gives you 2 hours in Bawnboy, you could leave later and go via Eniskillen instead.
    16.57 Bawnboy - Eniskillen 17.28, 18.05 Eniskillen-Dublin 20.50

Separate tickets would be needed for the Bus Eireann and Leydons journeys.

To come back via Cavan a day return Dublin-Cavan and a day return Cavan-Bawnboy.

To come back via Eniskillen a day return Dublin-Eniskillen on Bus Eireann will be the cheapest option and see if Leydons will allow you to go Cavan-Bawnboy, Bawnboy-Eniskillen with a break on one single ticket otherwise two singles would be needed.

Edit: Geog got there first and if returning through Eniskillen changing at Belturbet on the way up would be cheaper.

If going via Cavan have a word with one of the staff on Duty at Busaras before boarding and tell them you need to go on the 09.30 route 30 bus not the 109 because you have a tight connection to make at Cavan, they sometimes keep Cavan passengers off the Donegal bus to stop it overloading but won't have a problem if they know you need to make a connection.
