    Hey;

    APCOA are in our apartment complex. Came down to the underground car park this morining to find a clamp thrown on. I have my permit on my windscreen and has been on it unchanged for the past year. However when I contacted them by phone they said my serial number wasn't clearly visible (its a 5 digit number) underneath the expiry date. The permit was clearly visible beside my tax disc apart from this number! Theres also a bar code and another number in the middle. I rang them but they won't budge. All I know is that I'm not paying their €120 fine! Any ideas of what actions I can take?

    Surely they would have the reg number on their system with that permit assigned to the car? I'd tell them to check their system and then I would cut it off.

    OP lives in the complex. If they cut the clamp off the management company could remove their access to the car park.

    OP you need to contact the management company if you own or your landlord if renting to complain, unfortunately you'll have to pay to get out. Read the house rules on the car park and how the disc should be displayed.

    The landlord is ringing them on Monday but I'd imagine the clamping company won't do anything unless I pay then I appeal...

    The signage only says underground car parking is for private residents only and information on visitors parking..

    Any angle grinders floating around Dublin 15 near coolmine?

    You need to get a copy of the house rules for the car park from your landlord, there's no need to post them as all owners agreed to them at the AGM. Visitors generally don't have access to house rules so that is why they are posted.

    If your landlord hasn't provided you with a copy of the car park rules you could try and negotiate a rental reduction equal to the clamping charge, check with the PTRB or threshold to see if it's the landlords job to provide these as I'd say it is since the management company or agent won't deal with a tennant.

    Don't bother appealing as it's just more money to the company that clamped you. If the car park rules don't mention that the serial number needs to be visible you have to get your landlord to chase up with the management company for a refund.

    Phone up the clamping company and tell them that someone is attacking the clamp that they put on your car, they are damaging the clamp and looks like your wheel etc and you better send out the van to pick up the clamp.

    When they come out clamp the ****ers and say the release fee is 250 Euro

    Or better still get a angle grinder and cut the thing off and sell it to a scrap yard for a euro
