When Will Electric Ireland reduce prices?

    Hi dmca77,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Electric Ireland is currently reviewing its prices for Northern Ireland customers, and any announcement will be communicated to all customers 21 days in advance of any price change coming into effect. In addition, there will be a press release.

There was a reduction of 2% in the Electric Ireland (ROI) electricity unit rate, which came into effect on 16th November last, and this was communicated in October.

    Regards,
    Una

Was that around the same time as the Standing Charge increase?

    Hi More Music,

    Thanks for your post.

There was an increase in the standing charge in November 2015, which was also communicated (see here), and together with the reduction in the unit price this resulted in an overall reduction of 2% for the average residential customer (or an average saving of €24.11 incl. VAT per year).

If you have any other questions we'll be happy to help.

    Thanks,
    David

OP, Electric Ireland will drop their prices only if you go online to join one of the competitors. I did just that 2 weeks ago and lo and behold Electric Ireland rang me today with a better offer (including the €50 off the next bill). Until you do something, they will keep taking your cash.

I was moving to Airtricity.(Apparently only 15% of customers ever move electricity providers.)

    Hi CarrickMcJoe,

Thanks for your post. We do indeed offer discount price-plans (through Sales) to customers for direct debit/online billing/dual fuel (electricity plus gas) as well as offers on the Nest thermostat and the Climote heating control (through Home Services).

The above would be different though to the unit price change, which automatically comes into effect and applies to all electricity/gas customers.

    Kind regards,
    Una
