Shelf for a Tumble Dryer

    Hi,

We have a small Utility Room with an "inlet" that is the depth and width of your normal washing machine/tumble dryer/ freezer.

We have a freezer in here at the moment, but I plan to get a vented tumble dryer soon, and was hoping to stick in a shelf a couple of feet above the freezer on which to put the tumble dryer.

Has anyone else done something similar, and what type of brackets/fittings should I use?

    Thanks

I did this in my previous home but had the washing machine under it. I put a couple of wood battens to the wall with rawl plugs. I then fixed a piece of old counter top cut to size with a few long screws to hold it in place. I cut a piece out at the back to allow the plug down to the socket. Rock solid and no vibrations.

Forget the shelf, go for something like this.

I've not seen them in Irish shops - only ever seen one in Australia but they are a fantastic idea.

There must be somewhere you can get them here - seeing as the link is a company in the UK.

I had a 'Columbo' moment. OP wants to put a shelf a 'couple of feet' above existing freezer in utility room. This would suggest a chest freezer so they must have a few mouths to feed. In that case the 3kg would be useless. As intro said, 2 horizontal 500mm batons (2"x2"), ideally catching the vertical studs. Attach a sturdy shelf, and you're done.

    I said 'something like this'.

Never even looked at the capacity, I'm sure you can get bigger ones! :D

If a normal dryer is mounted above a chest freezer with clearance to open it, they'll need a ladder to get to the dials and switch it on!

Thanks guys, seems like the horizontal batons with a shelf is the way to go. Cheers for the advice.
