    Hi,

Contract up with eir for unlimited fibre and home phone. Price increase due and will now be 55 euro per month.
Vodafone is offering 45 euro per month for the same product.

While we have had no issues with the WiFi or speeds, I am wondering that if I change to Vodaone, will their router be the same speed/quality as eir or will we potentially have issues with lots of traffic using it?

Our existing router is the efibre F1000 modem

Vodafone modems are actually to a degree a lot better, they have zero restrictions on websites used for movie viewings and gaming sites. Also their modems can hold up to 32 devices whereas most Eir modems hold just 8 devices.

    Just use your own router.

    Wrong on both counts.

Eir block via high court order, as do vodafone. Nothing to do with the modem.

It is worth to change from Eir to Vodafone? Are the quality, speed is the same? Thinking of change to VF broadband, but not sure yet. Thanks :)

It is the exact same line. Vodafone just wholesale it from eir and resell it under their own branding. Sky are the same. Go with whoever is cheapest.

Nonsense, the Eir F2000 is much better than the Vodafone supplied Hg658c. It's dual band 802.11ac and has a better CPU.

I kept my updated Eircom F2000 when I moved to VF I didn't even need to change any settings it just kept on working. The VF service is fantastic, great speeds and great pings too. Eircom send nightline couriers to collect their router so you'll have to use the VF supplied router unless you can give them another Eircom router that might be lying around. I didn't get any notice, the courier just arrived at the door.

Actually ED Vodafone no longer block those sites and haven't done for a long time.

All the well known ones are easily accessible, I can't think of anything that is blocked.

Pretty sure this was removed about a year ago.
