I got my first car in Ireland, I insured it and they keep asking for my logbook, yesterday I received something in the post which says "Certificate of registration and licensing" so I sent them that and then I get again the same question.

This was the only thing I got in the post, or should I get something else?

Logbooks were done away with over 20 years ago, iirc? The cert is the only document they should need.

You sent your insurer your VLC? You should keep that, send them a copy but not the original.

God you shouldn't have sent it off, a copy would have been fine!

What info do they want? We might be able to help

Yeah, I've never been asked for my logbook before, all I've been asked is am i the registered owner of the car and thats good enough. I'm also with Axa but through AA so maybe its an AIB thing. All i can think of is that maybe when they asked you for the Reg number of the car, maybe they didnt have all the full details of the car in their database. But surely they could get onto shannon themselves to update their database?

I think that's your problem there. I've said it a dozen times, I'd rather my pet Labrador arrange m insurance policies than a bank

It's clearly just a front for a bigger company though. It's not AIB offering the cover, they are just flogging policies for a bigger provider i'm sure.

They're doing the admin for the insurer and operate to a script. Never a good thing when circumstances deviate from the norm

I did my insurance through BOI which is underwritten by rsa and there was no asking for logbook/vlc.
