    Hi all,

Woke up to see the top "V" shaped ridge tile or flashing has been dislodged by the storm at the front of my house.

I'm not a DIY'er when it comes to stuff like this so I'm in need of a bit of advice. The builder I used ten years ago when renovating the house passed away unfortunately so I'm looking for a recommendation as to who I could call to repair this before the rain and wind make it much worse. I'm based in Sandyford.

Also, is there anything I should be doing straight away to minimise the potential damage? I don't have ladders which will extend that high so there's probably little I can do until I find someone to fix it.

Thanks for your help in advance.

It needs to be cemented back in place, it doesn't appear to have much cement on it. Not much you can do till you get someone to go up and fix it, apart from keep people away from, or at least aware of, the area where it might fall - if it did fall it could go a surprising distance out from the house. Having said that, we had a ridge tile like that on a shed and it was like that for ages before I could get anyone to fix it.

Thanks Looksee. Sent an SOS out to a few pals on WhatsApp and the old six degrees of separation theory is alive and well. A pal who owes me a favour asked his roofing brother in law to pop over. They restored the ridge tile in the picture, another ridge tile further along the ridge and replaced a slate which had gotten loose and come off all together. They also checked the rest of the roof and the felt underneath etc and all is now good again.

It's true that you only find out who your friends are when you are in a bit of trouble!!
