Dublin T1 - Minimum time to get through Security and to Gate on Wed. morning?

I will be flying with Ryanair out of T1 on Wednesday, and was wondering what the minimum time is that I should allow to get through Security and to the Gate. Anyone has any recent experiences?

Would I have trouble making it arriving at the Airport at 7.05am for an 8.05am flight? I will be traveling alone, no bags, and already checked in online.

Usually I leave loads of time, but this time I will be traveling by Bus to the Airport and the two options I have are either 4.05 or 7.05 arrival time... so don't fancy hanging about for 4 hours in the middle of the night. :-)

It's fairly busy in the mornings at the airport, you're leaving yourself a bit tight, e.g if the bus is delayed etc.

DAA target for getting people through security is 30 minutes, think they get fined if it takes longer, then you've a near 15 min walk to the ryanair gates.

Thats too tight OP, id at 30 minutes to it if i was you. The mornings are hectic and then some. Would you rather be rushing to the gate and be sweaty getting on a packed plane, Or stroll there with a water / coffee and a paper.

You can book fast track clearance through security - would be worth it in your case where it's a bit tight. At that time you should be ok but keep in mind if there's any delay for your bus at all then you could be in trouble.

Personally, I would chance it. I would book fast track for some peace of mind though.

Winter or Summer? This time of year it shouldn't be too busy.

Edit: Reread OP, its winter. I'd say go for it, 1 should be enough to get a coffee too. I wouldn't try it in July though.

Thanks. It's this Wednesday, so might just book Fasttrack and take a chance.

Tomorrow morning there are only seven flights departing from T1 between 7:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. (OP departs on Wed at 8:05) so passenger traffic shouldn't be a problem. However what could happen is that because it's after the early morning rush, they could severely reduce the number of active security lanes i.e. most of the security people could go to a tea break so the queues could be as bad or worse than during the peak early morning rush. I'd do the fast track just in case but make sure you're ready to leg it after security as Ryanair like to get away on time so you need to be at the gate in plenty of time and as already advised, it's a long walk.

Paradoxically the early morning rush hour (roughly between 5 and 6) is sometimes when you get through security fastest, all of the lanes were in operation when I was catching two early morning flights in Oct. and Nov. and on both occasions there was no queue to show your boarding pass before security - I was straight through in less than 5 minutes.

    Your flight at 8.05am.
They will start boarding at 7.35am. Call it 7.30am.

If you arrive at security 7am you SHOULD make it.
How good are you at poker??

I would aim for 6.45am and have a bit of time to buy a sandwich/beer/paper/coffee/breakfast /non-Ryanair-meal.

That being said, i arrived at T1 last Monday morning at 4.42am and made a 5.40am flight... with Lufthansa. Don't fly cryin air any longer.

Gate usually says closing at 7:40am (25mins before the flight), but I have never seen the gate close that early.

Read the OP. Either 4am or 7am.

I find Ryanair quite pleasant to fly with, nearly hard to justify a full service carrier anymore.

I've been through T1 10 times and 20 minutes felt like a long time getting through security. I must be one of the lucky ones.

An hour is very tight, 8.05 is the departure time for the flight, not the boarding time, you would want to be at the gate at least 20 minutes pre departure time at a minimum. If you miss the flight how much of an issue is the missed flight compared to 4 hours wasting time around the airport?

If you like a challenge to speed things up...
    • Put all metal in a bag before your off the bus so you pass through the scanner without delay.
    • Download the DAA app on your phone so that you know the gate the plane is taking off from without having to stop and look, usually it will be added at least hour before departure.
    • Know your way around T1... basically once you go in the door you go to the far left to get to security. Try to go to security on the far right check if possible, this will usually be the side Ryanair gates are.

    I DID read the OP.
And the OP asked what was the minimum time to get through security and to the gate in T1.

Anyway, hopefully the OP did not leave it absolute minimum and did make their flight without too much stress.
    Happy flying!

I gave my most recent experience in terms of getting through security and to the gate.

    In other matters:

When you are there and on time then Ryanair are fine.
The moment you are not, the moment you have a questionable time to the airport, the moment you are ONE minute late, the moment ... X. Y. Z. .....it is at that point your life changes.

It is at that point you need to ensure that you have enough cash on your debit card, or enough credit on your credit card or enough travel insurance etc.
Even that last bit may not help you in the short term.

Anyway, i hope the OP made their flight without any stress.
    Happy flying!

P.S. Don't read any more Boardsies posts while travelling as they will just infuriate you. Better to ignore it all and have a good time away.

Thanks for all the replies. Much appreciated.

Ok, the Bus arrived at 07.04am, and I am already sitting at the gate.

Security was very light, and Fast Track probably wasn't even necessary. By 7.10am I was through security and airside. Bought a drink & paper and than walked to the gate. was at about 20 past 7 at the gate.
